Cardiff vs Burnley brings together two sides looking to turn midweek draws into a victory before the international break. Kick-off at Cardiff City Stadium is at 3pm GMT on Saturday 7 November.

The Bluebirds must respond after surrendering a three-goal lead against West Ham, while Burnley head coach Fabio Celestini is seeking his first win following consecutive draws.

Cardiff vs Burnley preview: home record offers encouragement

Cardiff are 18th with 15 points and unbeaten in their seven home league matches. Burnley sit 22nd, having managed only one Championship victory this season.

Jack Moylan is the player the visitors must contain. His hat-trick against West Ham took him to nine league goals, with three assists also to his name, according to Squawka’s statistical preview.

Those contributions have been particularly important to a Cardiff side balancing productive attacking spells with defensive disruption.

Recent form: Cardiff scoring, Burnley steadying

Cardiff’s last five league matches have produced wins against Watford and Birmingham, draws with Middlesbrough and West Ham, and a defeat at Wolves.

Burnley followed a goalless draw against Portsmouth with a 1-1 result at QPR. Those matches brought greater stability after defeats by Wolves and Lincoln, but Celestini still needs to turn that improvement into wins.

TeamLast five results, oldest first
CardiffWatford 5-1, Middlesbrough 2-2, Birmingham 1-0, Wolves 0-3, West Ham 3-3
BurnleyCharlton 2-2, Wolves 1-2, Lincoln 1-4, Portsmouth 0-0, QPR 1-1

The results are recorded in the Cardiff vs Burnley match guide.

Cardiff team news: Bielik hope and Ng concern

Brian Barry-Murphy hopes Krystian Bielik can return after missing three matches. His availability would help a defence that has also been without Dylan Lawlor and Calum Chambers.

Perry Ng is a doubt after coming off against West Ham. Calum Scanlon experienced stiffness but was expected to be fine, while Alex Robertson also needs checking.

“Hopefully Krystian Bielik may be back for Saturday,” Barry-Murphy said in the latest Cardiff injury update. “That will be a big boost for us all.”

Gabriel Osho is available after completing a three-match suspension. Ronan Kpakio could replace Ng if required.

Burnley team news: Amdouni could return

Zeki Amdouni has resumed training, with Celestini hopeful he can feature. A final decision depends on his response to the sessions.

Armando Broja remains a longer-term concern. Bashir Humphreys is progressing, but Celestini suggested late November or early December as a possible return window in his pre-match fitness update.

Hannibal Mejbri and Dastan Satpaev also remain sidelined, according to Sports Mole’s team-news preview.

Cardiff vs Burnley predicted line-ups

These are predicted selections, not confirmed teams. Cardiff’s XI is particularly dependent on the late fitness checks.

Cardiff predicted XI: Trott; Kpakio, Osho, Bagan, Scanlon; Robertson; Ashford, Moylan, Joel Colwill, Willock; Salech.

Burnley predicted XI: Coudert; Walker, Ekdal, Igor Julio, Pires; Hatate, Laurent; Hountondji, Edwards, Ramazani; Vardy.

Where the game could be decided

Analysis: Moylan’s movement and finishing give Cardiff a clear attacking threat, but the condition of the players behind him could shape the afternoon. Changes across the defence would place extra importance on Cardiff protecting possession and limiting space between the lines.

Burnley can take encouragement from conceding only once across their last two matches. Maintaining that discipline while creating more for Vardy is the next challenge. Amdouni’s possible return could give Celestini another attacking option.

Dave.sport prediction: Cardiff 2-1 Burnley

Prediction: Cardiff’s home record and Moylan’s scoring form give them a narrow advantage. Burnley’s recent improvement should make this competitive, but the Bluebirds look capable of producing the extra goal if they avoid another defensive collapse.

Cardiff vs Burnley kick-off time
