Alvaro Arbeloa insists his attention remains on Fulham’s next match as speculation over his future continues before Saturday’s visit of Hull City.
The Fulham head coach addressed questions about his position at Friday’s press conference, with Sky Sports reporting his determination to concentrate on the game.
“It’s not about me, it’s about the club, it’s about the players, it’s about the supporters,” he said, in comments carried by the Guardian.
Alvaro Arbeloa faces crucial Fulham fixtures
Fulham are bottom of the Premier League with two points from six matches and remain without a league victory.
The Standard reported earlier this week that failure to secure results against newly promoted Hull and Coventry could bring Arbeloa’s time at Craven Cottage to an early end.
The pressure increased after their late 2–1 defeat at Ipswich Town last Saturday. Ryan Sessegnon put Fulham ahead, but Abdoul Ouattara equalised in the 88th minute before Dara O’Shea scored the winner in stoppage time.
Arbeloa had already defended his ability to handle the pressure after that defeat, stressing the need to give his players confidence.
Hull arrive with nine points from their opening six games, having suffered just one league defeat.
Fulham vs Hull City kicks off at 3pm on Saturday at Craven Cottage. Fulham then travel to Coventry on 24 October.
