Bournemouth face a fitness concern over Alex Scott before Saturday’s trip to Chelsea after a thigh injury forced the midfielder to leave England’s squad.
Scott was included in Thomas Tuchel’s original Nations League selection, but has returned to his club for further assessment following the 7-0 win over Croatia.
The FA confirmed his withdrawal on Monday, ruling him out of Tuesday’s meeting with Czechia at Wembley.
What has Thomas Tuchel said about Alex Scott?
Tuchel defended England’s handling of Scott, explaining that the midfielder had trained before the Croatia match and received medical clearance.
“We knew he was in treatment but we only got green lights from him and the medics,” Tuchel said, as reported by Reuters.
PA reported that Scott could face up to two months out. However, the FA’s announcement did not specify a recovery timescale.
Scott concern comes before Chelsea trip
Bournemouth visit Stamford Bridge on Saturday 10 October, with kick-off at 3pm BST, according to the Premier League’s confirmed schedule.
Chelsea also need a response after their 3-0 defeat at Brentford before the international break.
For Bournemouth, the immediate question is whether Scott can play any part against Chelsea. His assessment will help determine their midfield options, with a further club update needed to establish the extent of his absence.
