Biography

Wessel Nijman is a Dutch darts player and a multiple Players Championship winner. Born in Uitgeest on 26 June 2000, he was 12th on the PDC Order of Merit when the rankings were last published on 2 November 2026, with £589,250 in ranking prize money over the two-year period the list covers. The PDC credits him with 11 senior titles, a total it compiles across all of its senior competitions, and he has also won 12 PDC Development Tour events.

He was banned by the Darts Regulation Authority in 2020 after admitting to match-fixing and returned to competitive darts in 2023. That year he finished third on the PDC Development Tour Order of Merit, which earned him a PDC Tour Card and a World Championship debut at the 2024 edition. He topped the Development Tour Order of Merit in 2024 and won his first PDC ranking title at Players Championship 24 that year, beating Stephen Bunting 8-5 in the final.

His 2026 season has been his most successful. He won Players Championship 2 with an 8-7 win over Gerwyn Price and then his first European Tour title at the European Darts Trophy, beating Price 8-3 in the final. He won Players Championship events 8, 10, 12 and 14, and Players Championship 21 in June with an 8-6 win over Ryan Searle, becoming the first player since Michael van Gerwen in 2012 to win six Players Championship titles in a calendar year. Later in June he won the Slovak Darts Open, beating Rob Cross 8-3 in the final. In October he reached the quarter-finals of the Dutch Darts Championship, losing 6-5 to Niels Zonneveld, and lost 6-5 to Martin Schindler in the first round of the European Championship. The PDC records one nine-dart finish for him across all of its events. He throws 22-gram Mission darts and walks on to "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams.
