Biography

Danny Noppert, known as The Freeze, is a Dutch darts player and a former UK Open champion. Born in Joure on 31 December 1990 and still based there, he was 11th on the PDC Order of Merit when the rankings were last published on 2 November 2026, with £594,250 in ranking prize money over the two-year period the list covers. The PDC credits him with six senior titles, a total it compiles across all of its senior competitions. Before joining the PDC he was runner-up at the 2017 BDO World Championship.

He switched to the PDC in 2018 and won his first ranking title that year at Players Championship 20, beating Ian White 6-4 in the final. In 2019 he reached the final of the World Series of Darts Finals, losing 11-2 to Michael van Gerwen. His first PDC major title came at the 2022 UK Open, where he beat Michael Smith 11-10 in the final. He has since won four more Players Championship events, most recently Players Championship 8 in 2024 with an 8-6 win over Luke Humphries in the final.

He went into the 2026 World Championship with a career-high ranking of sixth, won his first match 3-1 against Jurjen van der Velde and lost to Justin Hood in a deciding set in the second round. He has reached two European Tour finals in 2026, losing 8-5 to Nathan Aspinall at the German Darts Grand Prix in April and 8-5 to Niels Zonneveld at the Dutch Darts Championship in October, after wins over Jermaine Wattimena, Luke Woodhouse and Gian van Veen. He then lost 6-5 to Stephen Bunting in the first round of the European Championship. The PDC records six nine-dart finishes for him across all of its events. He throws 23-gram Winmau darts and walks on to "High Hopes" by Panic! At The Disco, a tribute to his late mother.
