Oxford stop Stockport’s charge

Mark Harris scored the only goal as Oxford beat Stockport 1-0 at the Kassam Stadium, preventing the visitors from moving to the top of League One.

The Wales striker finished Siriki Dembélé’s low cross in the 35th minute after a quick attack down the left. Oxford extended their unbeaten run to eight matches, while Stockport suffered their first defeat in seven, Sky Sports reported.

Stockport had threatened before the goal, with Kyle Wootton heading over and Jamie Cumming saving from Benony Andresson. Oxford pushed for a second after the break, but Oliver Whatmuff kept out Cameron Brannagan’s free-kick.

Riis and Donley doubles lift Leicester and Luton

Emil Riis scored twice as Leicester beat Wigan 3-0 at the King Power Stadium. Bobby De Cordova-Reid completed the scoring with a late penalty.

Riis took his Leicester tally to seven goals, while the victory gave Russell Martin’s side consecutive home wins and lifted them into the top half, the club’s report confirmed.

Before kick-off, a minute’s applause remembered the five people who died in the helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium eight years earlier, Leicester’s match report confirmed.

At Kenilworth Road, Jamie Donley’s second-half double helped Luton beat Doncaster 3-1 for a third successive victory.

Callum Marshall opened the scoring from the penalty spot before half-time. Donley then scored twice after the interval, with Bayley McCann heading in a late consolation for the visitors.

It was Donley’s first senior brace, parent club Tottenham confirmed. The on-loan attacker has four goals in 10 appearances for Luton.

MK Dons hit four as Sheffield Wednesday settle for a point

Aaron Collins scored twice in MK Dons’ 4-1 win over Bromley, with Alex Gilbey and Charlie Goode also on target.

Mitch Pinnock had cancelled out Collins’ opener before half-time, but Paul Warne’s side scored three unanswered goals after the break. Collins restored the lead, Gilbey headed in and Goode completed the scoring from Collins’ pass.

The result gave MK Dons consecutive wins and left managerless Bromley without a victory in five league matches, according to Sky’s match report.

At Hillsborough, interim boss Matt Hamshaw began with a 1-1 draw against Cambridge.

Mason Burstow put Wednesday ahead five minutes after half-time, but substitute Sullay Kaikai equalised in the 67th minute after combining with Shayne Lavery.

Barry Bannan later hit the post before Cambridge threatened a winner, with both sides having to settle for a point. Hamshaw described his overriding feeling as frustration in the club’s post-match reaction.

Barnet close the gap on Salford

Barnet came from behind to beat York 3-1 at The Hive, moving three points behind League Two leaders Salford City with a game in hand, the EFL confirmed.

Arthur Read put York ahead before Kabongo Tshimanga quickly equalised. York then lost Hiram Boateng to a second yellow card early in the second half.

Jake Reeves put Barnet ahead with 10 minutes remaining. Damola Ajayi’s run and effort then led to an Alfie McNally own goal to secure the points.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, Bradford City beat fellow League One side Peterborough United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup. Read our Bradford vs Peterborough report for their progress to the last eight. They were then drawn away to holders Manchester City in the quarter-finals.
