Harry Milne Injury: Hearts Await Scan Amid Fears of Serious Knee Damage

Harry Milne will miss the rest of the season after scans confirmed an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Hearts head coach Wouter Vrancken has confirmed.

The left-back was injured during training in Turkey before last week’s Conference League match against Trabzonspor. Hearts had been awaiting confirmation of the damage.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s match against Rangers, Vrancken confirmed that Milne’s campaign was over, according to the Edinburgh Evening News.

“His season is finished, so it was the ACL,” the Hearts boss said.

Findlay ruled out as Borchgrevink faces further absence

Stuart Findlay will also miss the Rangers game with his groin problem. Vrancken had previously left open the possibility of a return, but confirmed on Tuesday that the defender would not be available.

Christian Borchgrevink, who suffered a hamstring injury against Trabzonspor, is expected to remain sidelined until after November’s international break.

How Hearts have adapted without Milne

Hearts have already had to move players between positions to cover their defensive and midfield absences.

Rogers Mato has filled in on both sides of defence, while Jordi Altena has been used in central midfield alongside Tomas Magnusson, BBC Sport Scotland reported via AOL.

Mato, normally a winger, has embraced the additional responsibility. “I’ll play any position and give 100% to help my team-mates win,” he said.

His contribution at Motherwell extended beyond defensive cover. The BBC reported that no Hearts player made or won more tackles at Fir Park, while Mato also created two chances.

Hearts build on Motherwell win before Rangers visit

Despite their absences, Hearts beat Motherwell 2-0 on Sunday through goals from Claudio Braga and substitute Calvin Miller.

The club’s match report confirmed Stephen Kingsley returned to the starting side, with Borchgrevink missing through injury.

Braga headed Hearts in front from Kerjota’s cross, before goalkeeper Beau Reus made important saves to protect the lead. Miller sealed the points with a low finish three minutes from time.

Hearts now host Rangers at Tynecastle on Wednesday 28 October, with kick-off at 8pm UK time. See our Hearts vs Rangers TV and live-stream guide for coverage details.
