Crystal Palace vs Newcastle Predicted Line-ups: Mateta and Disasi

Jean-Philippe Mateta leads our Crystal Palace predicted line-up against Newcastle after scoring on his return to the starting XI, while Axel Disasi is available again following his domestic suspension.

Newcastle’s selection remains affected by fitness concerns, with Tino Livramento omitted from our prediction and Matías Fernández-Pardo’s inclusion dependent on his recovery from a reported illness.

The Premier League match kicks off at 2pm GMT on Sunday 25 October at Selhurst Park. These are predicted teams, not confirmed starting XIs.

Crystal Palace predicted XI: Mateta keeps his place

Predicted XI, 3-4-2-1: Walter Benítez; Chris Richards, Axel Disasi, Jaydee Canvot; Anan Khalaili, Adam Wharton, Quinten Timber, Tyrick Mitchell; Daichi Kamada, Yéremy Pino; Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Mateta gets the nod after scoring in Thursday’s 2–2 draw at Besiktas. He started that match before making way for Jørgen Strand Larsen after 61 minutes.

Strand Larsen was subsequently forced off himself. Palace’s official match report records an awkward landing before Eddie Nketiah replaced him.

That leaves Palace awaiting clarity over another striker. We have not included Strand Larsen in the predicted XI, but no diagnosis or recovery timetable should be inferred from his withdrawal.

Mateta’s own workload is also relevant after returning to the starting side. We favour him to continue, with Nketiah an alternative if Pierre Sage decides against another start so soon after Thursday.

Disasi gives Palace another defensive option

Disasi has completed his three-match domestic ban and is available for selection against Newcastle, according to RotoWire’s suspension update.

He started in Istanbul, and our prediction retains the same defensive trio of Richards, Disasi and Canvot. Honest Ahanor provides an alternative if Sage rotates.

Further forward, we select Timber alongside Wharton, with Kamada moving into one of the two roles behind Mateta. That is a predicted adjustment rather than a confirmed change.

Dwight McNeil started against Besiktas and remains a contender after helping create Palace’s equaliser. Ismaïla Sarr also appeared from the bench, giving Sage options if he changes the attacking combination.

The short turnaround makes the final recovery checks significant. Thursday’s team should not simply be treated as Sunday’s confirmed selection.

Newcastle predicted XI: Wissa leads the line

Predicted XI, 4-2-3-1: Lukáš Horníček; Lewis Miley, Malick Thiaw, Sven Botman, Lewis Hall; Nico González, Joelinton; Matías Fernández-Pardo, Joe Willock, Harvey Barnes; Yoane Wissa.

Fernández-Pardo’s inclusion is subject to fitness.

Our prediction uses Miley at right-back, with González and Joelinton in central midfield. Willock takes the advanced central role, supported by Fernández-Pardo and Barnes behind Wissa.

Livramento is not included. The latest reporting describes a cautious recovery from his knee problem rather than an imminent return to the starting team.

There is more uncertainty around Fernández-Pardo, Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey. The Mag, citing reporting by Craig Hope, says Fernández-Pardo has been ill, while Elanga has returned to group work and is pushing for involvement.

That report also stresses that Palace could come too soon for Elanga. We therefore leave him outside the predicted XI rather than assume a return to training means he is ready to start.

What could change before Sunday?

Palace’s most immediate questions concern Strand Larsen’s assessment, Mateta’s recovery and how much rotation Sage wants after the trip to Turkey.

For Newcastle, Fernández-Pardo’s fitness could change the attacking line. Elanga and Ramsey also require clearer availability updates before either can confidently be included.

Our Newcastle team-news coverage provides further context, while the Premier League fixture guide lists the weekend schedule.

Sunday’s kick-off is 2pm GMT: the clocks go back earlier that morning.
