Swansea 0-1 West Ham: Mukasa winner cuts gap at the top

Divine Mukasa scored the only goal as West Ham United beat Swansea City 1–0 to move within one point of the Championship leaders.

Mukasa struck in the 34th minute at the Swansea.com Stadium, with Mohamadou Kanté providing the assist. West Ham protected that advantage to follow Wednesday’s victory at Lincoln with another three points away from home.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side now have 22 points from 11 matches, while Swansea remain on 23 after suffering their second league defeat of the season.

Swansea 0-1 West Ham: Mukasa makes his recall count

Mukasa returned to the starting side as Nuno made one change from the team that beat Lincoln City 6–0 in midweek.

Selected alongside Jarrod Bowen and Manor Solomon behind Pablo, the midfielder delivered the decisive contribution before half-time. Kanté supplied the assist for the goal recorded in FotMob’s match coverage.

Swansea had recalled Adam Idah as part of four changes, with Gonçalo Franco, Stephen Welsh and Ronald also coming into the confirmed starting line-up.

The hosts introduced Stephen Eustaquio and Jisung Eom early in the second half, while West Ham brought on Taty Castellanos for Pablo after the hour. Swansea could not find an equaliser.

West Ham close in as Swansea’s winning run ends

The victory reduces the gap between the clubs from four points to one and gives West Ham successive league wins without conceding.

Their record now stands at six victories, four draws and one defeat. Swansea’s four-match league winning run ends after victories over Burnley, Lincoln, Norwich and Millwall.

For Nuno, this completes a productive week: six points from two away games, seven goals scored and none conceded.

West Ham next host Southampton on Saturday 24 October, while Swansea travel to Queens Park Rangers on the same afternoon.
