Aoife Wafer ruled out of Ireland’s South Africa Tests as Bemand names squad

Aoife Wafer has been ruled out of Ireland’s two WXV Global Series Tests against South Africa later this month.

Sam Monaghan will also miss the trip, while second row Ruth Campbell returns from injury in Scott Bemand’s 30-player squad.

Erin King will captain Ireland for the matches at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on 24 and 31 October.

The IRFU’s squad announcement did not specify a return date for either Wafer or Monaghan.

Who is in Ireland’s squad?

Recently capped players Beth Buttimer, Jemima Adams Verling, Kate Jordan, Sophie Barrett and Alana McInerney have all been selected.

Ireland return to camp on Monday before travelling to Cape Town on Thursday.

Both Tests kick off at 2pm Irish and UK time and will be broadcast on Spórt TG4.
