Tottenham’s 47-game comeback drought concerns Sherwood

Tottenham have failed to win their last 47 matches in which they conceded the opening goal, prompting former manager Tim Sherwood to question the squad’s leadership.

According to Sky Sports, the run spans all competitions and comprises 11 draws and 36 defeats.

September’s 3-2 home loss to Aston Villa extended that sequence, leaving Spurs without a Premier League victory this season.

Tottenham comeback record raises concern

Speaking on Sky’s Tottenham podcast, Sherwood said: “At the moment, they’re void of any leaders and characters.”

He questioned whether enough players could rally their team-mates when matches turned against them, while acknowledging manager Roberto De Zerbi’s passion.

Manchester United test next

Tottenham travel to Old Trafford on Saturday, with kick-off at 5.30pm.

Spurs sit bottom after five league games, despite signing 10 players for more than £330m during the summer.

Sherwood said the recruits still had time to demonstrate their quality, but argued their performances had yet to justify the investment.
