What happened in the first Hutchinson vs Buatsi fight?
Buatsi put Hutchinson down in rounds six and nine on the Daniel Dubois vs Anthony Joshua undercard at Wembley. Hutchinson got up both times and reached the final bell. Two judges scored it 117–108 and 115–110 for Buatsi, while the third gave it 113–112 to Hutchinson.
Hutchinson has won twice since, stopping Mark Jeffers before beating the previously unbeaten Ezra Taylor on points in March. Buatsi suffered his first professional defeat against Callum Smith in early 2025 and returned with a points win over Zach Parker last November.
Hutchinson wants a world title more than revenge
Hutchinson, 28, enters the rematch at 20–2 with 14 stoppage wins. Buatsi, 33, is 20–1 with 13 stoppages and will be boxing for the first time in a year.
Hutchinson told BBC Scotland he wants to deliver the performance he felt he was capable of at Wembley. “It’ll be good to get my revenge back on him, but more important is to become a world champion,” he said.
