Frank Warren denies Fury Injury and States Fury vs Joshua Goes Ahead 11th December
Tyson Fury's camp has denied claims he is injured, and promoter Frank Warren said the suggestion was 'news to me'. The fight with Anthony Joshua remains set for 11 December in Cardiff.
Tyson Fury’s camp has denied claims that he is injured, leaving the Fury vs Joshua date of 11 December in Cardiff unchanged, Sky Sports reported on Thursday 5 November 2026. Promoter Frank Warren also told the media the suggestion was “news to me”. The two heavyweights, Anthony Joshua being the other, are due to meet for the WBA (Super) heavyweight title at the Principality Stadium.
The denial followed comments from former British heavyweight Frank Bruno, who suggested the heavyweight could be carrying an injury. The camp rejected the claim when approached by Sky Sports News. The fight is five weeks away.
Fury vs Joshua date: Cardiff fight remains set for 11 December
The pair are scheduled to fight on 11 December at the Principality Stadium after years of negotiation. Sky Sports states the bout is due to begin at around 1am on Saturday 12 December. The stadium is due to remain open until 3.30am.
The card is taking shape. Cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia was announced on Wednesday as stepping up to heavyweight to face former champion Deontay Wilder, as Wilder vs Opetaia was confirmed for the 11 December undercard. The Manchester Evening News notes that Fury has given no sign he will withdraw.
Fury injury update for the Joshua fight: what Frank Bruno said
Bruno made the remarks on the Fight Your Corner podcast while discussing Joshua’s chances against Fury with former cruiserweight Tony Bellew. He named no injury and gave no source beyond gym talk. “I looked at him the other day and I think someone was talking to me in the gym that he’s got some injury, which may stop him from going into the fight with Anthony Joshua? And having that on your head ain’t nice,” Bruno said.
Bellew responded by pointing to the Briton’s habit of unsettling opponents before fights. “He plays up to the camera, Frank,” Bellew said, adding that he believes the Briton is “the master of the mind games”, according to the Manchester Evening News.
The camp gave a direct denial to Sky Sports News. On the available evidence, the fight remains on schedule.
Frank Warren responds to the Tyson Fury injury rumour
Warren was asked about Bruno’s comments and said he had heard nothing of an injury. “That’s news to me. That’s news to me. Absolute news to me,” he told the media. He did not offer a medical update on his condition.
The promoter continued to promote the event, including the Wilder v Opetaia addition. He was also asked about the heavyweight’s future and the possibility of a fight with Daniel Dubois. “When Tyson wins the fight, he’ll make his choice what he wants to do,” Warren said.
Warren made no commitment to a Dubois fight or to any other opponent. His answer leaves Fury’s plans after Joshua open.
Tyson Fury plans to keep boxing after Joshua
Fury, 38, said last week that he intends to continue after the Joshua fight. He has two fights left on his contract. “I’m going to continue. I’ve got two fights left on my contract. I’ll finish the contract off and then probably sign another 10-fight deal. Who knows?” he told WSVN Miami from his training camp.
He added that any new deal would need to come quickly. “If the money’s right sign another 10 fights, but they’ve got to be quick because I’m getting older. And when it’s gone it’s gone. I’m coming up to fight No 40,” he said.
The two meet in Cardiff on 11 December. For more on the build-up, read dave.sport’s report on Joe Joyce backing Fury and questioning Joshua’s chin, and the latest boxing news.
