Cardiff's dramatic comeback and Norwich's five-goal win headline Saturday's EFL round-up.

Cardiff overturned a 4-1 deficit to beat Burnley 5-4, while Norwich scored five at Bristol City on a dramatic Saturday in the Championship.

Alex Robertson completed Cardiff’s comeback after earlier scoring an own goal. Norwich’s afternoon was considerably more straightforward, with five different scorers contributing to a comprehensive victory at Ashton Gate.

Elsewhere, Stoke recovered to win at Portsmouth, Preston beat Southampton and Middlesbrough were held at Watford. In the FA Cup, Doncaster were knocked out by Kidderminster.

Cardiff turn three-goal deficit into victory

Burnley appeared in control at 4-1, but Yousef Salech scored twice and Jack Moylan converted a penalty before Robertson struck the decisive fifth.

The midfielder had earlier put through his own net to extend Burnley’s advantage. His late winner completed an extraordinary reversal for both player and team.

The Guardian’s live coverage followed the comeback as Cardiff transformed an apparently lost game into three points.

Norwich pile pressure on Skubala

Norwich followed their four-goal win at Derby with a 5-0 victory at Bristol City, whose supporters voiced their frustration with manager Michael Skubala.

Paris Maghoma opened the scoring after 22 minutes. Harry Darling and Andre Brooks then struck three minutes apart early in the second half, before substitute Jovon Makama added the fourth.

Mathias Kvistgaarden completed the scoring from the penalty spot in the 80th minute after being fouled by Lisav Eissat.

Bristol City had an opportunity to equalise before the break, but Scott Twine was denied from close range by Dan Grimshaw. Once Norwich doubled their advantage, the hosts could not contain them.

“It was an unacceptable performance,” Skubala said in comments carried by Sky Sports.

Stoke fight back as Preston beat Southampton

Stoke made it five consecutive away wins by coming from behind to beat Portsmouth 2-1.

Tyrese Shade gave Portsmouth an early lead, but Jack McGlynn equalised after goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid failed to hold a cross. Ben Wilmot then followed up another save to head in the winner.

The result ended Portsmouth’s six-match unbeaten run. Stoke manager Mark Robins said his club had not won five successive away matches since 1947.

At Deepdale, Jordan Thompson’s 33rd-minute goal earned Preston a 1-0 victory over Southampton.

Lewis O’Brien answered Adam Armstrong’s opener as Wrexham held Wolves 1-1.

Blackburn beat West Ham

Andri Gudjohnsen and Oladapo Afolayan scored for Blackburn, who beat West Ham 2-1 at Ewood Park.

West Brom defeated Millwall 3-0, while Charlton and QPR recorded 2-1 wins over Sheffield United and Lincoln respectively. Watford and Middlesbrough finished goalless.

In the latest available update from St Andrew’s, Jay Stansfield’s second goal had put Birmingham 2-1 ahead against Swansea. Stansfield scored in the 29th and 87th minutes, either side of a Christoph Klarer own goal. Swansea had Marko Stamenic sent off after 26 minutes.
