Haney targets another Australian champion
Haney returns to Chase Center with a 33-0 record and 15 knockouts, having won world titles in three weight divisions.
He became undisputed lightweight champion by beating George Kambosos Jr in Australia in 2022, then defeated Regis Prograis at Chase Center in December 2023 to claim a title at super-lightweight.
His April 2024 loss to Ryan Garcia was overturned to a no contest. Victories over Jose Ramirez and Brian Norman Jr followed in 2025, with the latter securing his WBO welterweight belt.
Haney said he intends to take Paro’s title in front of his home supporters, reversing the situation from his trips to face Kambosos.
Paro returns to the venue where he called for Haney fight
Paro, 28-1 with 16 knockouts, appeared on the undercard when Haney fought Prograis three years ago. Now he returns as the opposing world champion.
“Champion versus champion, two belts on the line, in his backyard,” Paro said in the announcement.
The Australian has already won a world title away from home, outpointing Subriel Matias in Puerto Rico in June 2024. He lost that super-lightweight belt to Richardson Hitchins by split decision in his next fight.
After moving up to welterweight, Paro beat Jonathan Navarro and David Papot before outpointing Lewis Crocker in Brisbane in June to become IBF champion.
The winner in San Francisco will be a unified welterweight champion. Becoming undisputed would require collecting the division’s remaining major belts.
Haney vs Paro undercard: Brian Norman Jr faces Abel Ramos
Former WBO champion Norman faces two-time world title challenger Abel Ramos in the ten-round welterweight co-feature.
Two further bouts are planned for the DAZN PPV broadcast, but those match-ups were not named in the announcement.
Top Rank and Devin Haney Promotions are promoting the event alongside No Limit Boxing and TGB Promotions.
