Crystal Palace news: Kamada issues Liverpool warning after late rescue

Crystal Palace midfielder Daichi Kamada

Daichi Kamada has warned Crystal Palace that a repeat of their performance against Hoffenheim will leave them exposed when Liverpool visit Selhurst Park on Sunday.

The midfielder scored in stoppage time to rescue a 1-1 Europa League draw on Thursday, but his assessment afterwards was blunt.

“If we play like today against Liverpool, we will concede a lot and lose definitely,” Kamada told TNT Sports, in comments carried by BBC Sport.

Late goal does not hide Palace’s defensive problems

Alexander Prass put Hoffenheim ahead after seven minutes. Palace then had to play the closing stages with 10 men after Adam Wharton received a second yellow card.

The club’s match report records important Dean Henderson saves before Kamada finally equalised from Tyrick Mitchell’s knockdown. The goal earned a point, but the chances conceded explain the scorer’s concern.

Our Palace player ratings against Hoffenheim reflect Kamada’s decisive contribution on an otherwise difficult evening.

Sage prepares for a Liverpool response

Pierre Sage praised his players’ determination after the draw but said Palace needed to manage games better. He expects an ambitious Liverpool response after their defeats against Arsenal and Fenerbahce.

The Palace manager also confirmed that Axel Disasi would be available at the weekend, offering another defensive option.

Liverpool test arrives on Sunday

Palace have little time to turn Thursday’s lessons into a more controlled performance. Liverpool visit at 2pm GMT on Sunday 8 November, with both sides looking to improve on their recent league results.

Kamada’s equaliser gave Palace a result to build on. His warning makes clear that the team must do more than rely on another late escape.
