Fan Reporter Terms

Fan Reporter terms for Dave.Sport: what volunteer fan reporters agree to, how their work is edited and credited, and the rules every contributor follows.

Version 2026-10.

These terms apply when you become a Dave.Sport Fan Reporter. Dave.Sport is run by SumLou Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16964433), 71-75 Shelton Street, London WC2H 9JQ (“we”, “us”). Questions: hey@dave.sport.

1. A voluntary role

  • Being a Fan Reporter is voluntary. You are not employed by us, you are not a worker or contractor of ours, and you are not paid.
  • There are no set hours, no minimum output and no deadlines you must meet. Any “ideal output” in an advert is a guide, not a quota.
  • You or we can end the arrangement at any time, for any reason, by telling the other by email. Clause 4 (your licence to us for content already sent) carries on after it ends, and clause 6 lets you ask us to take content down.
  • Training, a profile page, a byline, a showreel and a reference are things we offer to help you build your name. They are not payment and do not create an employment relationship.
  • If we offer paid work in future, it will be under a separate written agreement.

2. Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or over to apply and to be a Fan Reporter, and you must live in the UK.
  • When you apply you confirm that you are 18 or over. If that is not true, Dave.Sport may end your role straight away and remove your content.

3. Your content

“Your content” means the videos, audio, photos, text and anything else you send us as a Fan Reporter.

4. You keep ownership; you give us a licence

  • You keep the copyright and any other rights you have in your content.
  • You give SumLou Limited a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use your content to run and grow Dave.Sport. This covers:
    • editing it (cutting, captioning, adding graphics, music we have the rights to, and our branding);
    • publishing it on dave.sport, our club and sport pages, Nine Dart News, our newsletters and podcasts, our apps, and our social media channels;
    • turning it into written articles, clips and posts under your byline, including with the help of AI tools;
    • reusing it in promotion of Dave.Sport, and letting our partners show it where it is embedded or shared from our channels.
  • We may let others use your content only in connection with Dave.Sport (for example, a platform that hosts our videos). We will not sell your content to a third party to use on its own.
  • Because the licence is non-exclusive, you can still post your own content on your own channels.
  • We will credit you by your name or the byline you choose where we reasonably can. You agree we do not have to publish anything you send, and that editing may change it.

5. What you promise us

When you send us content, you promise that:

  • It is yours, or you have permission to give us this licence.
  • No broadcast footage. It does not include match footage, broadcast clips, stadium big-screen footage or other material owned by leagues, clubs, broadcasters or rights holders, unless you have their written permission.
  • No third-party music or content without the rights to it. Background music playing in a pub or ground should be kept to a minimum; we may remove or replace audio.
  • Consent from people you film. Anyone who can be identified and is a main part of your video has agreed to appear. Do not film children (anyone under 18) other than in a crowd without a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
  • It is true and fair. Opinions are clearly opinions. You do not present rumours as facts, and you do not make false or defamatory statements about anyone.
  • It is lawful and does not break anyone’s privacy, confidentiality or other rights, or any ground or venue rules.

If something you send breaks these promises and someone makes a claim against us, we may remove the content and end the arrangement. We will not ask you to pay for problems we could reasonably have spotted and fixed in editing.

6. Taking content down

  • You can ask us to stop publishing any piece of your content by emailing hey@dave.sport. We will remove it from dave.sport within 14 days where we reasonably can.
  • Copies already shared, embedded or reposted by others, and archived or backup copies, may take longer to remove or may stay where they are outside our control.

7. How you behave as a Fan Reporter

  • Be passionate, not abusive. No hate, discrimination, threats, harassment or bullying, of players, officials, other fans or anyone else.
  • No swearing at or about named individuals, and keep other strong language to a minimum.
  • Do not encourage or show dangerous, illegal or violent behaviour, pitch invasions or breaking ground rules.
  • Do not promote betting, and do not include gambling offers or affiliate links in your content.
  • Tell us about any conflict of interest (for example, if you work for a club, agency or bookmaker) and any gift or payment connected to your content.
  • Do not say you are a Dave.Sport employee or journalist, or ask for press accreditation in our name without our written agreement. You may say you are a “Dave.Sport Fan Reporter”.
  • Stay safe. Never put yourself at risk to film, and follow the rules of any venue.

If you break these rules we may remove content and end the arrangement.

8. Your profile and your data

  • We will create a Fan Reporter profile page showing your name or byline, a photo you choose and links you give us. You can ask us to change or remove it at any time.
  • We use your personal details as set out in our Privacy Policy: to run the Fan Reporter scheme, credit you, contact you and keep records of the licence and consents above. Applications that do not go ahead are deleted after 6 months.

9. Training

Training sessions are offered free and are optional. Recordings or materials we share are for your own use and must not be published without our agreement.

10. Changes and general

  • We may update these terms. We will email you about any important change before it applies to content you send after the change.
  • Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have by law, or our liability for anything that cannot be limited by law.
  • These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction (if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts).
